Think about the sign’s function, location, whether it needs to be one or two sided, approximate size, local by-laws restrictions, how you plan to mount it and anything else you can come up with. If a logo, I would need to see it to assess how much work is involved in reproducing it. Obviously, a complicated coat of arms would cost more than something simple.
